Historian Gary Reid is the foremost authority on the music of the Stanley Brothers. His program uses a mix of storytelling and music to bring to life Carter Stanley’s musical expression – the high lonesome sound that would come to be known the world over as bluegrass. A Life of Sorrow is the story of one man’s musical journey from the Clinch Mountains of Virginia, around the world, and back home again.

Kellie Allen and Pete Peterson have been harmonizing and making music together since 2000. They both enjoy deconstructing an old-time or early bluegrass song or tune from the original recording and turning it into their own music. Tricia Spencer & Howard Rains are both fiddlers, guitar-players, and singers who preserve and build upon the traditions of their home states of Texas and Kansas. The husband and wife duo are known for their distinct twin fiddling and close-knit vocal harmony. All are multi-instrumentalists steeped in musical tradition and dedicated to the preservation, performance, and sharing of old time music. [more info] [more info]

For over 30 years, these folks from Charlottesville, Virginia have devoted their lives to the tradition and bring not only a great deal of sensitivity to the music, but also plenty of spirit and humor in the vein of past Old Time performers.
Uncle Henry’s Favorites are Pete Vigour on fiddle and guitar, and Ellen Vigour on mandolin, Jim Childress on fiddle and guitar, and Mark Beall on bass fiddle. Bring the family for an evening of entertainment you won’t forget!
