Since 1975, the Critton Hollow String Band tends a stable of songs from the first settlements of Appalachia to the best of contemporary American folk music. Joe Herrmann, Sam Herrmann and Joe Fallon combine precise instrumentation, melodic interplay, and three-part harmony to create a warm and engaging sound. Their songs express a range of experience that can make you laugh or cry. Their ballads tell stories of bad men and disappointed lovers. Their instrumentals will make you want to get up and dance or sit back and listen. In every case, the music is pure joy. | Celebrated bluegrass singers Johnny and Jeanette Williams (3-time SPBGMA Female Vocalist of the Year) have teamed up with returning bluegrass artist Jay Shelton. The band’s material is a variety of styles including original, classic country, gospel, blues, traditional and progressive bluegrass, and Americana. All are accomplished songwriters, and their original music is the focus of a new project that features the band’s infectious three-part harmony. Their set list will prominently feature this material plus favorites from previous releases. |
